Busy year for NFD continues with response to house fire

Dec 1, 2025 | 10:14 AM

The Nipawin Fire Department (NFD) joined crews from Carrot River to fight a house fire southeast of Nipawin.

The blaze started Friday afternoon, and the department said they sent 10 firefighters, a tanker and an engine to assist the Carrot River Fire Department in fighting the blaze.

The NFD said the gas line had ruptured below the meter and members had to help SaskEnergy with digging up the pipe.

They said Carrot River fire crews did an admirable job of saving nearby buildings.

There were no injuries in the incident, which saw 17 firefighters, four fire trucks, two command pickups, and over 8,000 gallons of water used at the scene.

The NFD’s record year continues to grow, with this being their 238th call for service.
