Melfort RCMP hand out charges after three impaired driving incidents

There was a trio of impaired driving calls for Melfort RCMP as the calendar flipped to 2026.

They received a call from a motorist following a suspected impaired driver on Highway 3 on Dec. 31.

Police found the vehicle in the ditch, and the driver was arrested and investigated for drug-impaired driving.

RCMP were called Jan. 1 about a vehicle that hit the ditch near Weldon.

The driver provided breath samples that RCMP said were way above the legal limit.

That vehicle was impounded, and the driver was charged.

That afternoon, police conducted a traffic stop in Melfort, and another driver was arrested for impairment after breath samples were above the legal limit. That driver also faces charges and had their vehicle impounded.
