Palmarin OT winner ends Wolverines skid
Vincent Palmarin got the job done 23 seconds into overtime as the Warman Wolverines ended a four-game losing skid with a 6-5 win over the Battlefords North Stars on Saturday night in North Battleford.
The Wolverines came into the back end of the home-and-home series having lost 4-3 on Friday at the Warman Home Centre Communiplex. Pherson Loehndorf began the scoring on the power play with his eighth goal of the season to put Warman on the board in the first period. Trey Markus followed up with his second goal in as many games and second in the SJHL, beating Kaeden Serpa to put the Wolverines up 2-0.
The tides were turned for a second straight night, this time by the North Stars, when Drew Williamson and Josh Knittig each found the back of the net to tie the score at two after one period of play, with the shots at 15 apiece.
The Wolverines got up and running to start the second when Carter Bergen netted his 10th of the season only for Kobe Sawyer to tie it again at 3-3. Adam Konowalchuk put the North Stars up for first time in the game with his 10th of the season but Vincent Palmarin helped the Wolverines get back on even terms late in the frame with his sixth of the season as the Wilcox, Sask., native tied the game at four through 40 minutes of play.
