Scott stands tall as Hawks blank Wolverines
Colten Scott slammed the door with a 21-save shutout, backstopping the Nipawin Hawks to a 6-0 victory over the Warman Wolverines on Friday night in Warman.
The Wolverines were looking for their first winning streak of the calendar year after a thrilling 6-5 win over the Battlefords North Stars last weekend. Friday’s contest saw 887 fans pack into the Warman Home Centre Communiplex on a frigid night in Warman with temperatures dipping below -30 degrees.
Nipawin began the scoring in the first period when Mason Lowther put home his sixth goal of the season and third on the power play, and Konnor Watson fired in his team leading 21st of the season to make it 2-0 after the first 20 minutes of play.
The only goal of the second period came off the stick of Noah Derouin at the 11:25 mark to give Nipawin a 3- 0 lead heading into the final frame. The Hawks put the game out of reach in the third with Finley Radloff notching his 10th goal of the season on the power play and Raydr Wallington collecting his fourth of the season. Will Whitter rounded out the scoring to give Nipawin its second win at the Warman Home Centre Communiplex this season.
