Klippers go wire to wire in win over Wolverines
It took an extra seven weeks but the wait was worth it for the Kindersley Klippers as they controlled play from start to finish in a 5-1 win over the Warman Wolverines on Wednesday night in Warman.
Bryson Aikens scored twice and Russ Demo tallied three assists in the contest, which was originally supposed to be played on December 17 but had to be rescheduled due to a winter storm.
The Klippers wasted no time seizing the initiative in their sixth meeting with the Wolverines as Aikens opened the scoring with his 10th goal of the season just over four minutes into the first period. Thirty seconds later on a Kindersley power play, Aikens struck again, deflecting a Demo point shot past Taye Timmerman, giving the visitors a 2-0 lead before the game was even five minutes old.
Cobe Perlinger stretched the advantage to three with another power play marker midway through the second frame and Van Eger followed up with his 11th of the year with just over two minutes remaining in the period, putting the Klippers in full control through 40 minutes of play.
