Feb 14, 2026 | 11:32 PM

Brayden Gourley scored twice as the Melville Millionaires sent the Warman Wolverines home emptyhanded from a two-game eastern swing and to the brink of elimination from playoff contention with a 6-1 win at the CN Community Centre on Saturday.

The Wolverines hoped to avoid a winless road trip at a crucial point of the season having fallen 7-2 to the Yorkton Terriers the previous night.

Nathan Taylor began the scoring just past the five minute mark of the opening period with his sixth goal of his season to make it 1-0 for the Millionaires. The lead would not last long though as Owen Parks fired in his second goal in three games less than two minutes later to even things up at one.

The Millionaires responded with Gourley’s first of two goals to put them back in front 2-1 after 20 minutes of play with the shots 14-8 for the home team.

Melville began to open things up in the second period with Wesley Olsen and Hudson Binder pushing the lead to 4-1, an advantage the Mils held until the end of the frame.

Gourley kept pouring it on in the final period with his second of the night for his second career multi-goal game and Maddox Shindle sealed the deal for the home team with his fourth of the season to give the Millionaires a huge victory in their quest for a postseason berth.

The Wolverines are now 18 points shy of the final SJHL playoff spot with nine games remaining. They sit fourth in the Nutrien Division and 11th in the overall standings at 12-30-2-3. With the victory, the Millionaires move into seventh overall and sit third in the Bunge Division at 20-17-3-4.

The Wolverines now head into a crucial Monday afternoon showdown with the Melfort Mustangs, with puck drop scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Warman Home Centre Communiplex. Every Wolverines home and away game can be heard live on SaskNow.Com.
