‘D-Day for Iranians’: Some Iranian Canadians welcome U.S. attack of Iran
Some Iranian Canadians are expressing their support for foreign intervention in Iran after the U.S. and Israel launched a major attack on the Middle Eastern country, sending missiles into Iran overnight.
Babak Shahbazi, who lives in Metro Vancouver, home to one of the largest Iranian-Canadian communities, said Iranians would like to see the regime end without foreign intervention. But he said a lot of people are very happy the U.S. and Israel are helping topple the Islamic Republic.
“So it’s a very confusing thing,” said Shahbazi, who said he attended a demonstration in Vancouver’s downtown on Saturday in support of a free Iran.
“Everybody was honking and dancing like we won the World Cup, waving flags.”
