RCMP searching for vehicle of interest following homicide in Sandy Bay

Aug 16, 2026 | 10:01 AM

Saskatchewan Bay RCMP are actively searching for a vehicle wanted in connection to an early morning homicide in Sandy Bay.

Police were called to a home in the community just after 4:30 a.m. this morning for a report of an injured man. He was declared dead at the scene by “medical professionals”.

His death is considered as suspicious, and Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit (HIU) has since taken over the investigation. The man’s identity was not released.

Following initial investigation, police are now looking for a dark-coloured blue or black van or SUV that may have a dent on the vehicle’s driver’s side back rim. RCMP said the vehicle is “potentially connected” to the incident.

Anyone with information about a vehicle matching the description, or who may have seen it driving in Sandy Bay, is urged to contact RCMP immediately. Police advised that if spotted, the vehicle should not be approached as its occupants are considered armed and dangerous.

HIU officers are asking anyone who lives in in the Sandy Bay area to check their home security cameras and doorbell cameras during the morning of Aug. 16, as they may have captured suspicious activity or a black/blue van/SUV. If so, police urge that the findings be turned into local RCMP. Anyone who seen anything suspicious this morning is also asked to report it to police.

There will be an increased police presence in the Sandy Bay area for an undetermined amount of time as the investigation continues. More information will be shared as it becomes available.
