Wolverines overcome slow start to defeat Hawks

The Warman Wolverines extended their winning streak to three games with a 5-4 victory over the Nipawin Hawks on Friday night at Centennial Arena in Nipawin.

Five different players scored their second goal of the season as the Wolverines erased an early 2-0 deficit to spoil the Hawks’ home opener and earn their first ever win against Nipawin after dropping all four head-to-head matchups in 2025-26.

Off-season acquisition Brock Evans opened the scoring with his first goal as a Hawk 2:22 into the contest and Carson Park capitalized on a miscue by Warman goaltender Luke Brunen for his first SJHL goal to double the advantage midway through the opening period.

The Wolverines leveled the score in rapid fashion in the second with Peyton Allard and Sawyer Scheidt tallying 20 seconds apart. Warman then went in front later in the frame as defenceman Ezekiel Lambert beat Nipawin netminder Madex Kabrud from long range.
