‘The proof is in the history’: Sask. lawyer challenges residential school denialism
Eleanore Sunchild has heard residential school survivors tell their stories, helped them seek compensation and accompanied them to the Vatican to speak to the Pope.
On Wednesday, as she reflected on those experiences at an Orange Shirt Day walk in Battleford, she spoke of her frustration with people who deny that history.
“It’s always hard when you try to convince people of something that you know is true.”
Sunchild, owner and principal lawyer at Sunchild Law and walk organizer, urged Canadians to listen to survivors as the annual walk at the former Battleford Industrial School site honoured former students and remembered children who never returned home.
