The Warman Wolverines went wild in the second period with a franchise record seven goals in one frame en route to an 8-4 thumping of the Battlefords North Stars on Saturday night in Warman.

The Wolverines conceded the game’s opening goal for the first time since October 3rd when Drew Williamson fired in a one timer on the power play, then Easton Woytiuk found the back of the net on a wrist shot for his first in the SJHL as the North Stars took a 2-0 lead after one period.

Jaggar John got his SJHL career off to a good start in his second game with Warman as he put in his first goal to cut the deficit in half to begin the middle frame but the North Stars would respond with a goal by Linken Fisher to restore the two-goal lead.

That’s when the Wolverines caught fire. Sawyer Scheidt put one past Nathan Claydon and 25 seconds later Linden Hoskins netted his first SJHL goal to even the game at 3-3.

Shortly thereafter, Nate Crashley gave the Wolverines the lead with a breakaway goal and Ashton Lee scored his fourth goal in five games to make it 5-3. John added another goal to his SJHL resume moments later and Lee would follow suit with his second of the game to extend Warman’s run to six unanswered goals with the first five coming in a span of 4:41.

Kaleb Dewar pulled one back for the North Stars early in the third period with his fourth goal of the season only for Owen Parks to snuff out any hope of a comeback with a powerplay goal as the Wolverines secured their fourth straight home win and fourth in their last five games overall.

Warman finishes the weekend atop the Nutrien Division at 8-2-2 while the North Stars have lost five consecutive games and sit fourth in the division at 2-6-1.

The North Stars won’t have to wait long for a shot at revenge as they return to Warman for another matchup on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Catch every Wolverines home and away game live on SaskNow.com.
