Prince Albert’s Canada Day celebrations to span two days
Canada Day in Prince Albert will be celebrated over two days this year, with the the July 1 celebrations kicking off the evening of June 30 at Kinsmen Park.
Shayne Lazarowich, executive director of the Prince Albert Multicultural Council, said along with the city of Prince Albert and the Prince Albert Legion, they wanted to celebrate Canada’s 150 birthday in style.
“The city wants to kick off Canada Day by opening up the park. They’ve put in quite a bit of money to do a lot of renovations to fix up the park … there are two big public washrooms there now. So they want to unveil that and we thought it would be a great opportunity to do it that Canada Day weekend,” Lazarowich said.
He said the event on Friday, June 30, will begin at 5 p.m. and will feature four bands and a variety of food vendors followed by a fireworks display just after 10 p.m. when the sun goes down.
