A crash between a train and a semi left one person dead and another one injured in Raymore Thursday morning.

RCMP received a call about the collision at 11:08 a.m., according to a news release. The train and semi collided at the intersections of Highway 6 and Highway 15 at the north end of the town, which is located approximately 110 kilometres north of Regina. There were no chemicals spilled in the collision. RCMP say the semi was only hauling building materials.

The semi driver, a 52-year-old man who is not from Saskatchewan, was killed. A conductor in the train was left injured.

Tanya Adamson works down the street from the crash site at the Co-op Gas Bar.

“Part of one of the cabooses (is) in the ditch on the other side of the train and then you can see part of his semi on this side and then the other part of his semi is on the other side of the train,” Adamson said. She described the front of the truck being separated from the trailer, which was in at least two pieces itself.

“It is really foggy…all I know is there’s supposed to be two cabooses (to the train) in the back and there’s only one.”

Adamson said she believes the missing caboose was knocked off the tracks in the collision.

The highways are closed while RCMP remain on the scene.
