Summer leads to increased work duties for Meadow Lake Mounties

Meadow Lake RCMP have been busy the past week handling 114 files.

In the past 24 hours alone, officers responded to two complaints of break and enters in progress at different residences.

Two male youths were taken into custody facing break and enter charges. Both males will be released for court at a later date.

According to a media release from the Meadow Lake RCMP, local members took the time this summer to educate the public about boating regulations and enforce impaired driving laws on waterways. The effort was a joint one with members from Green Lake RCMP and the Saskatchewan Department of Environment and Resource Management (SERM). 

The release stated Mounties in the area are staying busy with more tourism traffic in the area. Most calls for service are directly in the city, but officers are travelling throughout a large coverage area, including Keeley Lake and Moose Country.

Additionally, local members are handling extra deployments, training, and involvement in the Underwater Recovery Team, Public Order Team and Emergency Response Team.

All of these extra interests by members are done in addition to their regular workload of the detachment.
