Melfort Big Brothers Big Sisters to host spring trade fair

Apr 12, 2019 | 12:36 PM

Over 50 vendors will be set-up at the Kerry Vickar Centre tomorrow for the Melfort Big Brothers Big Sisters Big Spring Trade Fair.

This is the second time the organization hosted the event after last year’s success.

Kathryn Carswell said the trade fair has something for everyone.

“We have almost every aspect covered,” Carswell said. “We’ve got bath fitter from Saskatoon, Claire Essentials coming to us, we’ve got Epicure from Nipawin, Sweet Legs from Naicam, we’ve got people coming from all over.”

Organizations from the region including Special Olympics, Melfort Elks, Make a Wish and the St. Brieux Manor will also be on hand to sell raffle tickets for numerous upcoming draws.

“We had between 500 and 60 people come through the door last year and we had about 37 vendors,” Carswell said.

All vendors will donate an item to a silent auction table.

Northeast SPCA will also run a food counter for the event that is free to attend.

Carswell said that even though this is really great fundraiser for the organization they also have a trip getaway draw that continues to be their biggest money maker which they will run again. The WestJet big getaway draw is made at the Melfort fair in July.

Tickets will go on sale on May 21.
