People looking to cool themselves off will be able to do so soon.

The Kinsman Water Park is slated to open June 7, while spray pads and wading pools will open June 1.

Curtis Olsen, recreation coordinator with City of Prince Albert, said in terms of getting ready there have not been any major surprises.

“Everything’s going accordingly. We’re over at the water park getting things cleaned up,” he said.

Along with getting the facility cleaned up, Olsen said staff have been going through the pools at the park checking to make sure the pipes, pumps and other equipment are working properly.

“We get everything up and running just to see where we’re at find those leaks, any issues concerns we might have so we can deal with it right away,” he said.

While there were no major issues in regards to the pipes and pumps, staff at the park are currently working to paint the landing and top pools. Workers are currently filling up the main pool with water. The water park also has a hot tub, which Olsen said is in good working order.

When it comes to the spray pads and wading pools, Olsen said city staff are coming along well as they finish cleaning and replace equipment removed over winter.

“We don’t want any setbacks during the summer where we have to take a park out of commission,” Olsen said.
