Prince Albert Fire Department responds to grass fire

May 27, 2019 | 5:06 PM

Members of the Prince Albert Fire Department (PAFD) responded to a small grass fire on the north side of Diefenbaker Bridge at 2 p.m. Monday.

Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire, and no damage was reported.

Deputy Fire Chief Alex Paul told paNOW about the incident.

“It was a small grass fire which took place in the ditch, still within city limits. We’ve had a number of grass fires this season already and I would say we are nearing the end of our grass fire season within the city limits because everything is starting to green up,” Paul said.

“People need to be cautious when they’re driving, avoiding throwing things like cigarettes out of windows because that can potentially be a cause of grass fires like this.”

Paul added with high temperatures on the horizon for this upcoming week, residents should take extra precautions to help prevent fires.
