Dekker Centre Season launch a celebration of what’s ahead

Jun 6, 2019 | 5:00 PM

The Dekker Centre is hosting its 2019-20 Season Launch June 12.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., General Manager of the Dekker Centre, Kali Weber, said the event is all about getting the community involved in celebrating what is to come.

“With announcing the new season, I want people to come to the Dekker Centre for a fun event that’s free to attend,” she said. “Get to know me, get to know the season [schedule] and hopefully we have a few more people, as a result, sign up to be season ticket holders or package holders.”

Local businesses including Porta Bella, Blend and Discovery Co-op Food and Liquor Store will provide appetizers for the event. Discovery Co-op will also be providing sample cocktails and specialty coffees for the evening.

“It’s not just going into the theatre and seeing a show,” Weber said. “There’s food, there’s drinks, [and] we’re going to have some entertainment in the lobby.”

The entertainment will include a 20-minute set on the stage by country artist Brock Andrews, who’s from Saskatoon originally. Andrews will be a part of the 2019-2020 season lineup.

Local musicians Cole Knutson and Brittany Keller, (also known as ZAYDA) will also be performing in the atrium of the Centre.

Weber said the event offers a free night on the town, and sneak peek at what the Dekker Centre has to offer.

“Really it’s showcasing the Dekker Centre, and showcasing what we’re all about,” she said. “[It’s] making things fun, [and] giving back to the community a little bit, through food and drink and just showing what we have coming for the next season.”

While free to attend, a ticket is required for admission. Tickets are available online or at the box-office in advance, as well as at the door.
