Fire damages attached garage in Nipawin

The Nipawin Fire Department responded to a call of a structure fire in the town on Friday, June 14.

It was discovered that the fire was on the north wall of an attached garage. The fire moved along into the underground electrical service mast and melted the conduit that was protecting the underground power supply. There was also smoke coming from the meter socket area.

The fire was put out and fans were then set up to ventilate the house. SaskPower and SaskEnergy also attended to disconnect the main power supply and shut off natural gas.

There were no injuries as a result. The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
