Update: Young boy burnt after standing too close to fire
Parkland Ambulance paramedics responded to an incident Friday, where a 10-year-old boy in the RM of Shellbrook stood too close to a burning fire, resulting the child receiving serious burns to his face and hands.
The youth was transferred to Royal University Hospital by paramedics, where he remains in good and stable condition. The fire was of recreational purpose.
Basic first aid involves first putting the fire out, cutting away any loose clothing – never pull fabric that might stuck to the skin and cooling the burn area with water. Finally seek medical treatment for anything larger than the size of palm of the victims hand. Don’t delay treatment and call paramedics as needed.
