Paramedics and firefighters are once again getting together to raise money to support community groups.

The second annual Emergency Service Partners 2019 Golf Tournament is set to go Aug. 29 at Cooke Municipal Golf Course. The tournament is a collaboration involving Parkland Ambulance and Prince Albert Firefighters Charity. This year all of the money raised will go towards KidSport Prince Albert and River Valley Resilience Retreat.

Chris Pacey, who is with Parkland Ambulance and is helping to organize the fundraiser said while registration just opened they are already half full.

“People are already putting their teams forward, getting us to save their spots,” he said.

Last year the inaugural tournament raised $10,000 to support OSICAN and Homeward Bound. When looking at what organizations to support this year, Pacey said they looked at the needs in the in the community and went from there. He said the work KidSport does makes it an ideal group to support given how valuable taking part in sport can be for kids.

“We feel so proud to be able to donate and give some money back, especially to the kids of Prince Albert. Hopefully get some kids that want to back into sport or get into sport, that may need that little bit of help,” he said.

Pacey said the decision was made to support River Valley Resilience Retreat as it provides an important service to emergency service workers by giving them a place to go where they can go to get support.

Looking forward to this year’s tournament, Pacey said they don’t have a goal set in terms of money but are optimistic about beating what they raised last year.

“We’re looking good and we’re hoping and it’s projected to beat that $10,000 this year,” he said.
