Nipawin awards pool framing project to ACS Contracting

The Town of Nipawin has chosen a local option for another portion of the pool at Central Park project.

ACS Contracting Ltd was awarded the Framing Contractor bid for the pool at Central Park renovations during Nipawin’s Feb. 11 council meeting. The cost is a little over $74,000 and shouldn’t exceed $78,000 in case suppliers’ costs change.

Barry Elliott, Nipawin’s chief administrative officer, told northeastNOW the town will receive copies of all the invoices and costs for the items.

“This is a very honourable, reputable individual business in our town,” Elliott said. “We’ll be able to keep track with that, but we did want to make sure that allowance was referenced, and council was properly informed of that in advance.”

The project is an expansion of the pool’s change room facility and Elliott said it will incorporate family change rooms, handicap accessibility, and improve overall access.

Elliott said the project already has some phases complete and hopes to have the pool ready before swimming season.

In its bid, ALC Contracting Ltd. indicated framing would be complete by March 25, 2019.
