Meadow Lake’s Logan Gorst entered the history books after becoming the 2019 Rangeland Derby Champion at the Calgary Stampede on Sunday.
“I owe it all to the horses,” Gorst said. “They performed unbelievably all through the 10 days. I wouldn’t change a thing and they never did a thing wrong.”

Genine Franklin and her sister Paula co-own The Brick Cold Lake and when asked to expand to another store they wanted to bring one to Meadow Lake.
“They were asking us if we were going to open another franchise and they gave us a couple of locations and we said ‘No, we would rather go to Meadow Lake,’” Genine Franklin said. “We’re already delivering there regularly and we really enjoy the community.”

A Loon Lake RCMP officer is a part of the national women’s baseball team and will play in the World Cup Qualifier in Mexico this summer.
Const. Heather Healey was one of 20 athletes named to be a part of the national team headed to the Pan American Baseball Confederation (COPABE) Women’s Baseball World Cup Qualifier in Aguascalientes, Mexico on August 18 to 25.
