Porcupine Plain hosting Roughrider Block Party on Saturday
A Saskatchewan Roughrider Block Party is coming to Porcupine Plain on Saturday, July 27 at the Porcupine Plain Sports Grounds.
The community was one of a few communities who were voted to host a Rider Block Party this season. Co-Chair of the event Amber Hoffus said the idea to apply came from their other co-chair attending last year’s party in Hudson Bay and thinking it was a great idea. Hoffus said through the voting process, they got votes from people who previously lived in Porcupine Plain 20, or even 40 years ago. Some votes were even coming from places like the Cayman Islands and New York
“It just goes to show no matter how far away you are, Porcupine is always a part of you,” she said.
Festivities get underway at 3 p.m. and will feature live entertainment, beer gardens, a concession, a ‘Fun Zone’, alumni appearances, Gainer, and of course, the Roughrider game as they take on the B.C. Lions. There will also be a guaranteed $1,500 50/50 at the event.
