Busy month at library with several upcoming events
Residents of the tri-communities are welcome to a number of events coming up at the Alex Robertson Public Library in La Ronge.
This evening at 7 p.m. the public is invited to a presentation by award-winning and critically-acclaimed Saskatchewan Poet Laureate Bruce Rice from Prince Albert. The poetry reading is made possible by the Wild Rice Writers Group, and Rice is also a writer, editor and essayist.
Culture Days are also expected to occur next week and it will be celebrated Sept. 27 at 12 p.m. La Ronge’s Sid Robinson will provide a historical look at the daily lives of voyageurs and the fur trade of the Lac La Ronge area. Displays will also be provided by Northern Saskatchewan Archives featuring local families at their traplines and the fur traders of the North.
“It’s exciting and having everyone coming in is absolutely wonderful,” Library Administrator Sean Stares said. “I’m always welcoming to anyone who wants to launch their book because it’s a great thing for the library and the community.”
