Helen Krasko

Posted Jan 30, 2018 | 9:12 PM

Helen Krasko passed away in Prince Albert, SK, on Saturday January 27, 2018 at the age of 79 years.

Helen was born May 22, 1938 in Smeaton SK, the daughter of Alex and Mary Lubyk. Helen was the middle child of five siblings : Clarence, Morris, Noreen and Vera.   Helen was raised on the family farm south of Smeaton, attending Aldergrove school until grade 10. In April of 1958, Helen married Alex Krasko.   With first-born child Wayne soon in tow.  They were also blessed with three girls: Colleen, Jackie, & Roxane.  They parted ways in 1970 with Helen raising the four children on her own. She worked hard at numerous jobs to make ends meet and provide for all her children.  In her younger years, Helen enjoyed playing ball and curling.  As she aged, she also enjoyed cards, Bingo and dice and investing in the community of Smeaton in which she loved.  Helen was known far and wide for all the perogies and cabbage rolls she made, donated, sold or gave away.  Helen loved her children unconditionally, but her grandchildren were a whole new level of love and involvement. Grandma could be found babysitting, helping out or having  the children stay over at any given time with great-grandchildren blessing her even more.  A fall in September of 2012 began Helen’s decline in health along with some dementia. She was moved to Prince Albert Nelson Care Home in January, 2014, where she resided until her third fall in 2016. This resulted in her move to the Kinistino Jubilee Lodge. Helen was relocated to Pineview Terrace November, 2017 where she stayed until she fell ill January 19, 2018 and was hospitalized until her passing.  Helen is survived by: her son: Wayne Krasko and his children Regan (Shauna) & Riley Krasko; her daughter: Colleen (Gary) Sjogren and their children Richelle (John) Lambiris, Justin (Jenn) Sjogren; her daughter:  Jackie (Allan Stuart) Krasko and son Ashley Nyberg; and youngest daughter: Roxane (Boyd) Madsen and their children Jennifer (Nathan Heroux) Joelle (Tyson) Boser, Kamille Stead, Nicole (Brad Boyle) Stead;  her great- grandchildren: Danika and Adriana Lambiris, Saydi and Meeya Tait Sjogren, step-great-grandchildren: Ty and Sierra Mcbeth and Remy and Reese Heroux. Two sisters: Noreen Harris and Vera Zapotochny.  Helen was predeceased by: her parents: Alex and Mary Lubyk; brother: Clarence Lubyk; sister- in-law: Edna Lubyk and brother Morris Lubyk, brother- in- law: Ed Zapotochny; grandson: Devon Sjogren; and estranged husband: Alex Krasko.  The family would like to thank:  Nelson Care Home, Kinistino Jubilee Lodge and Pineview Terrace for the excellent care provided to our Mom.  The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Smeaton Rec Center, Smeaton, SK.  Interment to follow at the Aldergrove Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca .  Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel (306) 922-4729
