Ski trails in La Ronge area ready for upcoming championships
The ski trails in the La Ronge area are in good shape for a number of events coming up this winter.
That’s according to La Ronge Nordic Ski Club President Heather Bernardin, who said nearby trails are ready for the Don Allen Saskaloppet scheduled for March 6 and 7, as well as the School Ski Championships held March 13. The La Ronge Chapter of Special Olympics Saskatchewan will also host a ski racing event some time this winter.
“We always kick off the season in November with our TGIF and ski swap, and then every year we always have a Solstice Ski to the Summit to celebrate the first day of winter on Dec. 21,” she said. “That was a big success.”
The club also hosted the annual Sask Cup Races on Dec. 21 and 22, which Bernardin noted was well attended. She said the event attracted skiers from all across Saskatchewan.
