The list of local COVID-19 caused cancellations grew late Friday when the Prince Albert Grand Council announced their pandemic plans.

In a media release PAGC said, in part, as a result of their efforts to manage and respond to the evolving circumstances related to the global emergency, they were cancelling the upcoming Senators’ Cup. It was scheduled to take place from April 3 – 5 at the Art Hauser Centre in Prince Albert. It was expected to bring 16 teams, coaches and spectators from across the province as well as Manitoba.

Further to this cancellation, PAGC’s upcoming Fine Arts Festival in April will also be cancelled.

“We have been monitoring the situation closely and taking direction from our Chiefs, the Public Health Agency of Canada, Saskatchewan Health Authority, and the Northern Inter-tribal Health Authority,” PAGC Grand Chief Brian Hardlotte said in the media release. “In response to the recommendations from public health officials on social distances, we have decided to cancel these public events.”
