R.M. of North Battleford passes budget
The R.M. of North Battleford No. 437 passed its 2020 municipal budget Wednesday.
During a “socially distanced” meeting, council approved a budget that will be the fourth consecutive with no tax rate increases. Administrator Debbie Arsenault said councillors were very pleased to avoid an increase, as there has been significant development through the construction of the new R.M. office, shop and fire hall north of the city.
“Council always keeps the ratepayers in mind,” Arsenault said. “So therefore, they spend very conservatively and for the betterment of the whole municipality.”
Additional costs for the R.M. included the startup of a new fire department. The mill rate was able to be maintained thanks to the help of multiple donations made by several businesses and individuals.
