The winners of the Prince Albert Community Scholarships for 2020 have been awarded to two high school graduates.

According to a media release, as part of the Prince Albert and District Community Scholarship Fund two scholarships, the Tillie and Joe Kawula Scholarship and the Hershel Davidner Memorial Scholarship, are awarded to those students who volunteer their time to make the community a better place.

The Tillie and Joe Kawula Scholarship of $1,000 was awarded to Emma Young who just graduated from St. Mary’s High School. The Herschel Davidner Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Gage Grassick who graduated from Carlton Comprehensive High School this year.

The Tillie and Joe Kawula Scholarship was named after two community volunteers; a P.A. teacher, and his wife. They’ve helped high school graduates for over 25 years who are pursuing post-secondary education.

The Hershel Davidner Memorial Scholarship was named after Hershel Davidner who died seven years ago. The local family business Davidner’s Clothing and Western Wear Ltd. has been in Prince Albert for over 70 years. Davidner donated money to students in P.A. through scholarships for post-secondary education and secondary education.
