Aug 14, 2020 | 12:00 PM

Starting on Monday, Dr. Mohd Enamul Hoque will serve Lanigan and the surrounding area along with Dr. Alafia. Dr. Hoque will be providing Primary Health Care Services out of the Lanigan and District Medical Clinic, Lanigan Integrated Hospital, and the Central Parkland Lodge.

Dr. Hoque has worked in numerous capacities and facilities overseas before coming to Canada in October of 2010. He then began practicing at the Leader Hospital, clinic, and two seniors Homes as a Family Physician. From June 2018 to 2019, Dr. Hoque was a Surgical Assistant at the Swift Current Hospital.

In a release from the Saskatchewan Health Authority, Dr. Kevin Wasko, the Physician Executive for Integrated Rural Health said the arrival of Dr. Hoque is an important announcement for the community. But due to ongoing recruitment challenges for other professions, reduced emergency room services will continue in the community.

“In Lanigan, one of the challenges with service resumption is related to recruitment. In the interim, the SHA is exploring all options to provide emergency services in the community which may include utilizing virtual care in the emergency room setting.”

Dr. Hoque along with his wife and three children look forward to being part of the community.

Patients are encouraged to book by calling the Lanigan and District Medical Clinic at 1-306-365-1234.
