Local Toyota dealership brings ‘Reels on Wheels’ to Prince Albert

Aug 18, 2020 | 1:04 PM

The city of Prince Albert will be one of 24 stops in communities across the prairies and British Columbia as part of a COVID-19-friendly drive-in movie.

Frank Dunn Toyota is hosting the event which will also be a fundraiser for the future Rose Garden Hospice.

A press release on behalf of the dealership and Fresh Air Cinema said the event will be ‘by donation’ with 100 per cent of proceeds going to a local charity in each community.

“In a time when we’ve had to adapt to physical distancing, and when so many families and friends have been forced to spend time alone in their homes, we’re excited to once again bring the joy of drive-in movies to families across the province,” said Jason Bashnick, manager director of Fresh Air Cinema. “These offer a place and unique experience where we can all connect safely and watch our favourite stories on-screen under a starlit sky.”

Sheldon Lachambre with Prairie Toyota Dealers said the event will also include giveaways and a grand prize contest where attendees across the Prairies can enter to win a one-year lease of a 2020 Toyota Tundra or Tacoma and a private VIP backyard movie experience.

“Prairie Toyota Dealers are excited to support local communities coming together with the Reels on Wheels events,” he said. “We truly want to support the communities that we serve by offering an event that loved ones can spend time with friends and family.”

Tickets for the August 24th event can be purchased online. The Disney/Pixar movie ‘Onward’ will be shown on a 4-story drive-in move screen at Frank Dunn Toyota and broadcasted through an FM radio station at 9:30 p.m. The gates will open at 8:30 p.m.
