Caplette becomes new Chamber of Commerce president

Giant Tiger Store Manager Dennis Caplette is the new president of La Ronge and District Chamber of Commerce.

“I’m honoured the businesses in La Ronge felt I was a worthy candidate and I’m looking forward to my new role,” he said. “In the community, the businesses as a whole are coming together and having a supportive environment. It definitely is something I’m interested in doing and that’s why I let my name stand.”

Caplette became the president at the annual general meeting held earlier this month where he took over responsibilities from outgoing president Crystal Everest. He explained it was his first time attending a Chamber of Commerce meeting and he wasn’t expecting to have his name put forward for the role.

Caplette expects the next regular meeting will happen within the next week in which he’ll become more acclimated with the organization.

“What I am looking to do is definitely reach out to all the businesses in La Ronge and trying to ramp up membership within the Chamber,” he said. “I’m also looking at creating some community events where the businesses can come together and show the different aspects of each of their businesses.”

Giant Tiger has been a member of the Chamber of Commerce for the last five years, Caplette noted.
