A 10 p.m. curfew and large-scale lockdown is in place in Stanley Mission after six positive cases of coronavirus were confirmed Friday.

That’s according to a public service announcement, which noted Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB) council, administration, health care and the emergency control group are working as quickly and as efficiently as possible to contain the number of cases in Stanley Mission.

“As expected, many community members are experiencing stress and anxiety due to the threat of COVID-19 in our community,” the release states. “Mental health supports are available and we encourage you to call an on-call mental health therapist to provide emotional and mental support if needed [at] 1-306-425-9518.”

Effective at 3:30 p.m., local residents are not allowed to leave Stanley Mission and only essential services personnel will be allowed in and out. The release adds non-community members will not be allowed in and only those with proof of a medical appointment will be allowed to leave and return. House parties will also not be tolerated.

“If the lockdown is not followed and the virus is not contained soon, a total lockdown will be implemented,” the release states.

The LLRIB also released guidelines to follow ahead of the Thanksgiving long weekend. It mentions shared meals between non-household members who are not in the same extended household is discouraged, no shared platters of food, buffets or potlucks, and all food should be served by a single person. Vulnerable individuals such as seniors are those with underlying health conditions should receive their food first to minimize cross-contamination.

It also noted any private indoor or outdoor events that include a food service may have a maximum of 30 people provided there is enough space to maintain a two-metre separation between individuals who are not in the same household.
