Four new, two returning councillors join Mayor Jellicoe on Tisdale Town council

The Town of Tisdale is welcoming four new councillors to the table and has two returning following the municipal election.

Al Jellicoe was acclaimed for a third term as mayor a few weeks ago.

“I think we have a council that the town can work with and go forward for the four years,” Jellicoe said. “It’s going to be a learning experience for them but I think we have got some good councillors.”

Kurt Johnson, Marilyn Baker, Amanda Reynolds, and Howard Saelhof claimed council seats with Mike HIll and Brandon Samida being re-elected.

Jellicoe said to begin with, the focus will be on education for the councillors.

“Winter is here and we will also get ready for budget in February and March along with some new projects for 2021,” Jellicoe said.

Eight councillors were in the running for the six spots on town council.

“Unfortunately, two had to not make it but I do congratulate them on putting their names forward and there is always four years from now,” Jellicoe said.

Jellicoe has been mayor of Tisdale for the past four years and felt he would like to serve one more term to finish off a few projects. He would like to see a few more roads paved once more water lines are replaced as well as bring composting to town.

Overall Jellicoe is excited for another term as mayor and getting to know and work with the new council.
