Jan 8, 2021 | 3:28 PM

UPDATE: Highway 17 is now open to the public, following the on-scene investigation into the two-vehicle collision on January 8.

Maidstone RCMP are on the scene of a significant two-vehicle collision south of Lloydminster, which has rerouted Highway 17 traffic.

A short time after Noon, RCMP received a report of a truck and semi-truck colliding on the intersection of Highways 17 and 770, about eight kilometres south of the Border City. The collision is serious enough that the highway is closed for an undetermined amount of time.

Police are on scene with local EMS, as well as an RCMP collision reconstructionist from the Prince Albert detachment to assist with the investigation.

Drivers are advised to slow down to 60 kilometres per hour when passing emergency vehicles and to follow traffic directions given by police on scene. An update will be provided once Highway 17 reopens.
