Meadow Lake confinement case adjourned for second time

Jan 12, 2021 | 10:31 AM

An accused suspect in a forcible confinement case had his bail hearing pushed back for the second time since his initial court date.

Thirty-one-year-old Tyson Eldridge was set to proceed with his show cause hearing on January 11, but the hearing has been adjourned once again while Eldridge seeks a new court-appointed counsel. Eldridge was taken into custody by police in late December following an incident where he allegedly held an adult male and female at gunpoint.

A heavy police presence consisting of Meadow Lake and Loon Lake RCMP, Meadow Lake Traffic Services, the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and North Battleford Police Dog Services secured the area around a Meadow Lake residence after reports of a man holding two individuals against their will. Police were able to safely evacuate the two hostages and apprehend Eldridge after multiple attempts.

Eldridge has been charged with the following offences:

  • Unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Unlawful confinement
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Tampering with a serial number of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearms
  • Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
  • Resisting arrest
  • Nine counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order
  • Three counts of failure to comply with a release order
  • Three counts of failure to comply with a probation order

He is set to appear in court on January 25.
