All LSSD school buildings closed Thursday from weather conditions

Living Sky School Division (LSSD) announced all school buildings will be closed on January 14, due to extreme weather conditions.

In a statement on Wednesday, LSSD Director of Education Brenda Vickers said there were many factors that went into the decision, including the trouble many will experience with transportation.

“The severe weather conditions are expected to result in bus cancellations and difficulties for staff who live out of town,” she said.

Normally, schools remain open, despite many being forced to stay home. However, Vickers said the pandemic is a complicating factor, as students can’t be grouped from multiple grades together with a staff, when their teachers are not able to be at school.
