Twin Rivers Curling Club announces close for season
The Twin Rivers Curling Club has announced their closure for the remainder of the season.
The club’s board of directors made the decision Thursday evening, stating the cost of keeping the ice in without league or event revenue as simply too high.
Vice President, Doug Fehr, said while they had perhaps seen the potential outcome of having to close for the season for some time, there was always an optimism that perhaps things would get better and allow for a season.
“It’s something that has probably been inevitable, but we’ve always kind of hoped we wouldn’t have to make the decision,” he said. “[However,] it’s pretty clear based on the communication from the province, we’re not going to be able to take part in regular league curling for quite a while, and we just can’t afford to keep the ice in for that long based solely on hope.”
