The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) has released its rosters for the SJHL Virtual Showcase simulation taking place on Friday, Jan. 29 and 30 on Twitch.

The La Ronge Ice Wolves were well represented on the four rosters with eight players selected over two teams that represent the province’s north.

Narek Alexanyan, Logan Holm, Nolan Doell, Aaron Greyeyes, Spencer Kennedy, Holden Knights and goalie Xavier Cannon were selected.

The remaining two teams will be made up of players from the remaining six teams from the southern portion of Saskatchewan. All the ratings for all the players will be released throughout the week leading up to the showcase.

A press release on the league’s website said, “The SJHL recognizes that the supply chain for hockey players has not stopped as colleges are still looking to fill roster spots. This initiative has been created to help provide some added exposure for the great young talents in our league. This will give scouts and fans the opportunity to familiarize themselves with some of the top players in the SJHL.”

The teams were chosen by the coaching staffs of the 12 SJHL teams and the teams were then created by the SJHL’s Alex ‘Moneyball’ Watson, who also put together the teams for the SJHL Playoff Simulation in the spring when COVID-19 shutdown the SJHL playoffs.

The tournament will take place on Twitch through Playstation 4 starting on Friday at 9 a.m. Each game will be available on SaskTel maxTV on channel 49 and 349.
