Deteriorating temporary surface on Highway 5 expected to cause delays
The temporary winter surface on Highway 5 east of Saskatoon is seeing blowouts and surface failures.
Phase one of the multi-year project saw 10 kilometres of widening and sightline improvements from the Old 27 Road to Blucher Road with the exception of about three kilometres that was given a temporary, narrow surface for the winter.
Ministry of highways spokesperson Patrick Book said crews have lowered the speed limit and installed warning signs.
