VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

North East SPCA looking for more volunteers

Mar 5, 2021 | 2:00 PM

The North East SPCA (NESPCA) is looking for additional volunteers and involvement from more communities in the area.

Volunteers are needed to help with donor tracking, adoptions, fundraising, social media and executive committee work.

“We have not been able to move too far forward because we don’t have the volunteers,” board chair Pat Shiels said during their Annual General Meeting (AGM). “For a long time we couldn’t have volunteers in.”

The AGM took place over Zoom Thursday night.

A high number of people volunteered at the NESPCA at the beginning of 2020 until the COVID-19 pandemic.

There are 15 positions on the NESPCA board and currently seven are filled.

“If you think you have the skills we need, please apply for a position on the board. I would like to see more communities getting on board with us,” Shiels said. “We have a very small per cent of the communities. We have about seven communities including Melfort, Nipawin, Archerwill and Ridgedale. I think a lot of communities don’t understand what we can do for them. I think a lot of them don’t think of us as a service for them.”

Volunteer forms can be found on the North East SPCA website.
