COVID case detected at Cando school

Living Sky School Division (LSSD) have another positive case of COVID-19 in an individual at Cando Community School.

The case was announced in a late media release Tuesday. Cando Community School, which is 48 kilometres south of the Battlefords, had it’s first case reported in October and had one case reported last month.

LSSD stated they are working closely with Public Health staff to ensure necessary measures are in place to protect our school community. Any individuals who were in close contact have been notified and are self-isolating at this time. Per health and safety protocols, the school received a deep cleaning/sanitizing and students and staff are being reminded of preventative measures like proper hygiene and staying home when experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms.

Further information regarding COVID-19 is available through calling Health Line at 811, as well as visiting the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health website. To protect the privacy of the individual, no further details are being shared at this time.

As of March 9, there are 29,918 positive cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan, along with 28,104 recoveries and 400 deaths. This leaves 1,414 active cases in the province and a fatality rate of 1.3 per cent. Inpatient hospitalizations are now at 139.
