Holy Family School – Faith Activities For Lent
For the past month the students and staff at Holy Family School have engaged in many faith activities during Lent. These activities look different this year with the COVID-19 restrictions. Since we cannot attend school masses at the church, we have become accustomed to holding Facebook live masses, virtual living rosary and daily prayer.
Stations of the Cross are often prayed throughout Lent. The students were able to experience the Stations of the Cross in three different ways this year; videos, in physical education class where the teacher incorporated exercises with a lesson of each station and lastly each class had the opportunity to pray the Stations of the Cross in the gym, like they would if they were at church. The staff at Holy Family works very hard to find creative ways for the students to participate in these activities safely.
Service is a large part of our faith curriculum, however again due to restrictions, we are unable to go out and serve our community like years past. The staff and students have always been partnered with River Heights Lodge, and although we cannot visit them, we make the effort to remind them that we miss them and are thinking of them. Our students were busy creating beautiful Easter cards and gifts for the residents. We hope it makes their Easter a little more special.
Student Mental Health is at the forefront of our teaching. We always look for opportunities to have spirit weeks for them to participate in. They look forward to these days and they especially love when their teachers participate too! We are working hard at building a sense of community at the school, and want our students to feel safe and be proud of themselves, their teachers and our school. We are #HFSPROUD
