Apr 12, 2021 | 8:00 AM

A proposed residency policy for city employees is back on the council agenda Monday.

The potential policy would require all new hires to senior management positions like city manager, department heads, and fire chief; along with deputy and battalion fire chiefs, to move within city limits within six months being hired or face termination.

The policy would also apply to all new hires to non-unionized permanent positions with the city.

Ken Leclaire, director of corporate services, told paNOW in total 63 positions would be affected by the policy.

A new tax to fund additional police officers will also be up for debate on Monday.

The $35 base tax would be applied equally to every property in the city.

The $500,000 it would generate annually would be used to pay for four new police officers.

Also related to taxes, council will discuss raising the minimum tax from $572 to $672.

Other items on the agenda include: potential changes to one of the city’s premiere ball diamonds and a development permit application for an events space in the former Tartan Table building downtown.
