Raiders look to make a statement against their rivals

Apr 22, 2021 | 12:00 PM

The Prince Albert Raiders have yet to get a point against their biggest rivals this year—the Saskatoon Blades.

They will have one final chance this season, today at 4 p.m. in the Subway Hub Centre down in Regina. The Raiders are 0-3 against the Blades this year, falling 3-1 on March 19, 4-0 on March 29, and 5-3 on April 8.

April 8 was a breakout game for Raider callup Dallyn Peekeekoot, who had a Gordie Howe hat trick plus-1, with a fight, a goal, and two assists. In fact, Peekeekoot contributed to three of the Raiders’ four goals against the Blades this season.

On the other side, Tristen Robins has been a Raider killer this year with two goals and nine points in three games. Colton Dach has the most Blades’ goals against the Raiders, scoring three goals and four points in three games this year.

Both teams are in different stages of their development, as the Bladers are 14-3-2-1 for second place in the WHL East Division, while the Raiders are in the wild card race with a 7-10-2-1. But both teams are in similar form over the last two games, as the Blades have one point (0-0-1) while the Raiders have a pair of regulation losses.

Tune in to CKBI with Trevor ‘Shreddin’’ Redden’s call of the game.
