Melfort, Gronlid, Kinistino Fire Departments respond to blaze near Fairy Glen

It took a big team effort to control a fire near Fairy Glen on Wednesday afternoon.

The Melfort Fire Department and Gronlid Fire Department first responded to the property that had a small shed, a medium sized outbuilding, and an old oil shed on fire. There was also some vegetation that had caught fire.

Neighbours were already involved using hand tools to help keep the fire from moving throughout the property.

The Kinistino Fire Department attended for mutual aid and water supply, as well as the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency Emergency Response Team. There were more than three departments responding to the blaze.

Crews were able to get the fire under control and save the main residence on the property. There were no injuries to report.

Nobody was home at the time of the fire and a cause is still under investigation.
