Graduation kicks-off at St. Mary High School

With summer just around the corner that can only mean one thing… grad season is here.

The first school to kick-off their celebrations was Ecole St. Mary High School who are presenting diplomas to students from June 14-16.

Principal at Ecole St. Mary’s, Mark Phaneuf said feedback so far has been positive about their grad and everything is going smoothly so far.

“I have the honor of giving the students their diploma, and to see the families as well and see the excitement on their faces. It’s pretty special,” Phaneuf said.

“We received so much positive feedback yesterday and going into today. The staff are excited to do this, and we’re happy to do it. It’s a lot of work, but the graduates deserve it.”

One graduate, Emma Leachman was happy that her family could attend and see her graduate.

“I’m really grateful that we got a grad this year. I’m just happy that everyone was able to come out and see us graduate and see all our teachers as well,” Leachman said.

Another graduate, Bryn Mengell was thankful about the graduation being in person this year.

“I’m thankful that I was able to get my diploma handed to me in person today,” Mengell said. “The whole celebration adds a really nice touch and makes it feel official. I’m really glad my whole family could be here so we could all celebrate this event together.”

The high school is video taping all of the grads receiving the diplomas. That video will be available on YouTube on June 23.
