Bigger Melfort Multi-k for 10th anniversary

Jun 25, 2021 | 12:10 PM

The Melfort Multi-K will return this fall and will be bigger and better than ever.

The same format can be expected as in previous years, but some additions are being made.

Race director Allison Rogers told northeastNOW that each run will have more spots available.

“We have 200 spots in the kids 1K fun run, 300 in the 5K, 100 in the 10, and 50 in the 21K,” Rogers said.

In a typical year, early registration would have begun on May 1 but all registration will begin on July 1 for this year.

“It is just straight-up $25 for everybody right until the end of August,” Rogers said. “We do have limits so if we sell out, we sell out.”

Registration takes place on the Melfort Multi-K website.

Both the 5-km run and the kids 1-km fun run always sells out, Rogers said.

The goal of the Melfort Multi-k has always been to get people out and active and that goal remains the same.

“Whether you are walking or running, just get out there that is the most important thing,” Rogers said. “It is not about time; we do time the event but really we want people to just get active.”

For those wanting to really train for the event, Rogers said they may have something for them as well.

“Last year we had Elise and Robin do a training group and I believe they will do that again,” Rogers said.

The run went virtual last year, and the committee called it the Melfort Multi-K 9.5, this year will be celebrated as the 10th.

“We have some exciting swag that everyone is going to be getting as a gift from us so that is exciting too,” Rogers said.

There will be pins distributed to those who have been running in the event for 10 years as well as five-year pins.
