Stars marketing manager Whyte ‘thankful for memories made’ following resignation from team

Jun 30, 2021 | 2:00 PM

After spending the better part of the last three years with the team, Battlefords North Stars’ marketing and office manager, Jennifer Whyte is moving on to the next chapter in her life, officially resigning from her position with the organization.

Due to the pandemic – and consequent loss of a season in 2020-21 – Whyte had been laid off by the Stars in February, with the opportunity to rejoin the club this fall with the SJHL’s much-anticipated return to play.

However, Whyte, who took a sales position with Pattison Media following the layoff, told battlefordsNOW that while she will miss many things about working with the team, ultimately the new position and the more structured hours associated with it was the right choice for her and her family at this time.

“I loved every second of my time with the North Stars; with the hustle and bustle of game days and the exhilarating times of playoffs, there’s nothing that can match that,” Whyte said. “But as a mom working evenings and weekends [with the team previously] and then shifting over to the station [which is Monday to Friday], it really puts the family aspect in perspective. Right now, for our family that’s what’s most important, is spending more time with the kids.”

Whyte said she will take many fond memories from her time with the Stars. (Submitted photos/North Stars)

Whyte said while she may not be back in the office this fall, fans and team supporters can still expect to see her around the rink often, taking in the action.

“Fans will definitely see me in the building whether that’s as a volunteer, maybe a board member, selling tickets at some point, or else just as a fan; I’ll definitely be there,” she said.

North Stars President, Shandon Reichert said the organization is thankful to Whyte for her hard work behind the scenes and dedication to the club over the last three years.

“We may play the hockey games on the ice, but that’s not all of it,” Reichert said. “A big part of our organization and our team is off the ice and in the community as well, and Jenn was a very big part of that, so we appreciate all she was able to do and accomplish during her time with us.”

Reichert added the North Stars will take some time to determine their next course of action as it pertains to filling the team’s marketing and office manager position.
